Curriculum & Math Activities

Find the Correct Path
Shape Race
Each player chooses a shape to start with and stands on the corresponding shape at one end of the zigzag line. On the count of three, players race along the line to reach the matching shape at the other end. The first player to correctly identify and step on the corresponding shape wins the round.

Shape Swapping
Assign each player a shape and a partner. The pairs start at opposite ends of the zigzag line. On a signal, both players begin moving simultaneously, aiming to meet at the center of the line. However, they must swap shapes with their partner before continuing to the opposite end. This activity promotes cooperation, communication, and quick decision-making.

Shape Sorting
Set up a designated area next to the zigzag line with four bins labeled with the shape names. Scatter a mix of the four shapes along the line. Players take turns walking along the line and picking up one shape at a time. They must correctly identify the shape and place it in the corresponding bin. The player with the most accurately sorted shapes at the end wins.

Shape Tracing
Use chalk or washable paint to trace the shapes on Find the Correct Path. Provide students with smaller stencils or cutouts of the same shapes and have them trace the outlines on the blacktop. This hands-on activity promotes fine motor skills and helps students develop a visual understanding of shape contours.
