Using School Blacktop for Learning

7/21/2022

There are many ways to use a school blacktop to learn math and other subjects. Here are a few ideas:
  1. Number Lines: Use chalk to create a number line on the blacktop. Children can use this number line to practice counting, skip counting, and other math skills.
  2. Measurement: Use chalk to mark off different distances on the blacktop. Children can use measuring tools, such as rulers or tape measures, to measure the distances and practice measuring skills.
  3. Geometry: Use chalk to draw different geometric shapes on the blacktop. Children can identify the shapes and practice their geometry skills.
  4. Graphs: Use the blacktop to create graphs. Children can collect data, such as the number of students who bring a certain type of lunch, and plot the data on a graph.
  5. Science: Use the blacktop to conduct science experiments or demonstrations. For example, children could use chalk to create a solar system model or a water cycle diagram.
Remember to follow any safety guidelines, such as staying within a designated area and wearing appropriate footwear. Also, be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.
